co~ra is the sensational new pop project by viennese sound & media artist cora leli hausch, who has definitely not written this press text herself, and is – according to leading experts – either clearly going through a severe case of midlife crisis, or was just recently hit hard by puberty.

in light of this episode she immediately swapped her trusty old laptop for some unreasonably costly modular gear, which  nearly bankrupted her, but has blown a breath of fresh air into her cobwebbed ear canals and made her juvenile heart pound with joy.

expect fun novelty chords, cheesy arpeggios and unnerving drones drenched in sweet sweet noise, garnished with typical knob-twiddling gestural tropes. have fun, i guess. yaay! you must definitely come!

(Sabine Marte)

*** Music for Loving Ears // Kris Kuldkepp [Concert]

“Music for Loving Ears” is an iteration of Kris Kuldkepp’s solo project for double bass and live electronics that explores the intersections between an acoustic sound body and an electronically generated sound world within the vulnerable context of free improvisation. Using extreme amplification techniques and precise microphone positioning, this set focuses on aural perception. Extreme dynamics and the alienation of sound objects, extended into clouds of feedback, contribute to an auditory synthesis in which the sound of the double bass is transformed into a post-industrial sonic vortex.

Kris Kuldkepp is a sound and performance artist based in Hamburg, Germany. Her work explores the perception, materiality, and behavior of sound and its resonance in physical spaces. Additionally, her work strives towards non-authoritarian musical forms and spaces that balance between meaning and noise. After years dedicated to classical and early music performance on the double bass and viola da gamba, her working methods now include improvisation, deep listening and attention to singular sounds. The main tools she employs are various string basses,  early music instruments, and a modular synthesizer in combination with found objects, motors, and other noisemakers.
